As a Sativa-dominant hybrid, Tropic Thunder is a descendant of the Maui Wowie landrace strain. The weed provides an average energizing high and demonstrates moderate THC levels of 17.38-18.88%. It is suitable for beginning smokers and those who want to get mild psychoactive effects.

This is not an easy strain at all to grow. I was fortunate enough to receive some seeds from my supplier in some Tropic Thunder I purchased. I decided to keep the seeds having no idea at time not available. The plants wanted to preflower by 2.5months old, i kept them in veg +3 more months, 3 weeks ago I flipped the lights and I've been wondering why it's bloomed as it has; I feel much better now realizing after reading this that they aren't the best for indoor grows apparently. I'll be sure to put a couple outside come spring to witness the difference. I've got between 37-58 nuggets on each plant but they've not wanted to really swell past 1" each...I'd guess I've got about 3/4oz on each...nuggets maybe 1/2gram each... I can tell you it is disappointing a little to know they won't donkeydick even though feeling better about it knowing it's the strain. I can say though that the nuggets look of top shelf quality, completely glistened in white sugar and 1/2" long hairs. Bright green, little purple, some hairs are turning orange but only a few. 1 plant is a little slower than other but appears to be blooming fuller. I'll update since it's such a rare of a breed for homegrown.

Tropic Thunder Strain - Perfect Daytime Cannabis with Moderate THC and a Little Buzz

The Tropic Thunder strain has been named after a movie directed by Ben Stiller and is full of laughing and socializing, similar to the comedy. As a cultivar with an appealing aroma, it also comes with medical benefits due to cannabinoids found in the plant:

  • CBD 0.4-0.61%
  • CBC 0.22-0.74%
  • CBG 0.14-1.04%
  • CBN 0.05-0.22%
  • THCV 0.25-0.73%

Prevalent Aromas and Terpenes

As stoners can expect from a strain named Tropic Thunder, a sweet tropical scent dominates in its aroma profile. Since the plant is rich in valencene and pinene terpenes, these chemicals affect the palette and bring these scents. Depending on the consumption method, a tropical aroma can transform into floral and grape odors delivered by bisabolol. Combustion or vaporization may lead to slight bitterness in the taste.

Tropic Thunder Typical Effects and Benefits

Regular smokers admit a boost of focus and creativity using this cannabis and recommend it as a suitable means for daily chores. The Tropic Thunder weed strain relaxes the body and fills the mind with a sense of pure happiness. It doesn’t cause deep sedation but keeps your physical form calm and easy. Hazy euphoria can leave people giggling at everything around them.

This marijuana is used to help with a variety of disorders but mainly mood and mental ones:

  • Stress
  • Inflammation
  • Pain
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Muscle spasms
  • Mood swings
  • Cramps

The cultivar is a favorite for individuals who tend to stay away from highly potent strains but still get relief from their debilitating conditions. In hypersensitive users with a low THC tolerance, smoking the Tropic Thunder strain may lead to:

  • Thirst and dry mouth
  • Concern
  • Paranoia

Review for Cultivators

Tropic Thunder is for intermediate growers. The cultivar features a flowering phase that lasts 56-63 days and requires 67 days before the harvest period starts. Indoor settings provide plants 60-80 inches high with a harvest of less than 0.5 oz./ft2. An outdoor growth environment is more beneficial for the crops and results in 5-10 oz./plant. The lime green nugs are small and spade-shaped, accentuated by orange hairs. The trichomes can vary in color from amber to white crystal, depending on the phenotype. Unfortunately, the strain is unavailable as seeds and clones.

Both the effects and the taste are amazing. At first you feel happy/euphoric and then this melts away quickly making you more relaxed but not sleepy or tired at all. It has a sativa head high combined with a tingly body high. I bought a cartridge and it has a Fruit Punch taste. I sooo much loove this weed.

Strain details

Tropic Thunder Strain Cannabinoids

THC Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is a major cannabis chemical compound. It is a psychoactive element that stimulates dopamine release and induces euphoria or happiness. THC-rich strains may be helpful with such conditions as lack of appetite, chronic pains , etc. It is considered to be the primary active marijuana component. 17.38 - 18.88%
CBD Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a major compound in cannabis, which is non-psychoactive. It is also proved to counteract the side effects of the second major component THC. CBD is widely used for medicinal purposes in rubs, oils and so on. It is helpful in muscle pain cases, may treat arthritis and migraines. Even Greeks used it against pain, while Queen Victoria applied it to get rid of menstrual cramps. 0.4 - 0.61%
CBC Cannabichromene, or CBC, is a minor cannabinoid, meaning that its quantity in cannabis is quite little. Though it has the same origin as CBD and THC, it is different in functions. Without any psychoactive effects, it is an efficient cannabis compound in combating acne and depression. CBC produces analgesic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. 0.22 - 0.74%
CBG Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of the minor cannabis compounds in adult plants. On the other hand, young ones contain a lot of this antibacterial and anti-inflammatory component. During the growth, CBG is converted into different cannabinoids, mostly THC and CBD. The compound itself increases appetite and decreases eye pressure. 0.14 - 1.04%
CBN Cannabinol, or CBN, is a trace element in cannabis that is considered to be mildly psychoactive. It appears from oxidation THC, exposed to light and heat. CBN is mostly contained in old cannabis and in traditional hashish. It is effective against insomnia, bacterial infections and appetite loss. 0.05 - 0.22%
THCV Tetrahydrocannabivarin, or THC-V, is a compound contained in cannabis in trace amounts. Even though it is close to THC molecularly, it is different in effects. This compound may be psychoactive only in large amounts. THC-V reduces blood sugar, controls appetite, stimulates bone growth, etc. African Sativa strains are the richest in THC-V. 0.25 - 0.73%
