Genesis Pharms Is One of the World’s Largest RSO Producers
The AskGrowers team sits down with Sean Beeman of Genesis Pharms to talk about this company’s RSO and how it helps people with various health-related issues. Sean Beeman also talks about the company’s work towards improving people’s quality of life, how their brand is different from others, and the reason to stop smoking joints after so many years. #growerstories
I’ve been in the legal cannabis industry since it began in 1996 but discovered the healing properties in 2010 when I used RSO to save my life. I am now one of the largest RSO producers in the world. Although we do produce flowers and extracts for recreational consumers, our flagship products focus on changing their quality of life more than their head.
Tia (AskGrowers) : How did you start Genesis Pharms? Tell us your origin story!
Sean Beeman : We started in 1996 just growing and selling high-grade flowers but have always had the desire to help people change their quality of life. As laws have changed, we adapted and now produce large amounts of organic cannabis to deliver to the market in a variety of forms.
Tia : Why do you think your brand is unique and better than a bunch of others on the market?
Sean : We strive to produce the highest quality RSO that we can. I list my personal cell number on our packaging for customers to call with their questions which really shows my level of passion. Budtenders are not as educated as they were back in the medical days but many people are still looking for therapeutic products to change their quality of life so I train the sales force and support them personally.
Tia : How do cannabis consumers benefit from using naturally-grown, pesticide-free cannabis products?
Sean : Even just smoking flowers and extracts helps with a myriad of symptoms and it is important that they be free of pesticides and contaminants.
Tia : Is Genesis Pharms a sustainable brand? What do you do to follow these steps?
Sean : We are vertically integrated from the field to the shelves of dispensaries, so we do not have to rely on other manufacturers. On our no-till farm, we make a lot of our own inputs and of course, we use recycled paper in our packaging.
Tia : With so many products making false claims, how can a CBD consumer be more knowledgeable and make an educated decision when shopping?
Sean : The most important factor is knowing your source. It is important that they have a good reputation and can be trusted. Like you say, many make false claims and even deliver other than the described products to the market.
Tia : Do you think people should thrive for a high THC? Why?
Sean : I like to say that THC stands for “The Healing Cannabinoid” and consider 5 to 10mg to be a recreational dose when a therapeutic dose is more like 200mg of THC. This is why many people deliver their RSO by suppository. When delivered this way, it avoids the metabolization that results in the “high.”
Tia : What advice do you have for someone who is interested in practicing sustainability in the cannabis industry?
Sean : Maintain as much control of the process as you can.
Tia : What’s your personal consumption routine? What are the top three products that you’re using?
Sean : For many years I would smoke joints of Shishkaberry on a daily basis but when I quit smoking tobacco, I stopped smoking joints as that was a trigger. Now, I use small amounts of extracts when I want a head change but I have been using RSO daily for over a decade now.
Tia : Your top strains to smoke? Why?
Sean : Shishkaberry has always been my go-to strain. After almost 20 years of growing her, I still have not grown tired of smoking her.
Tia : If you could smoke with anyone in this world, who would that be and why?
Sean : In my previous career as an I.T. consultant, I have worked for many famous musicians and have smoked with many of them. But if I could pick anyone to smoke with again, it would have to be my late father.
Tia : Are there any cannabis brands in your state you appreciate and follow? Name them.
Sean : SugarTop Buddery and Kings Cannabis grow some awesome flowers and CBDiscovery makes some beautiful carts.
Tia : What do you think the next 5 years look like for the cannabis industry in the US and globally?
Sean : I hope to see federal legalization over the next few years. With that, I hope we can use banking just like every other business there is.
