The Purple Kush weed has a deep red, somewhat violet color with pink hues. This is the reason why the strain has gotten its name, making it highly recognizable. But, the Purple Kush doesn’t just look purple – it tastes purple, too. How is this possible?

Well, users say that the Purple Kush tastes like purple things such as grapes, wine, and candy. It has a divine flavor that only adds to the amazing strain effects, which definitely makes this one highly popular marijuana strain.

What Strain Is Purple Kush?

Purple Kush is neither a Sativa nor a hybrid. This is one of the few 100% Indica strains with the ability to make you happy, relaxed, and often – very giggly. The strain was developed as a cross of Purple Afghani and Hindu Kush somewhere in the Oakland area. Ever since it’s become one of the most popular Kush varieties among marijuana users.

With its earthy, sweet overtones and subtle aroma, this is definitely one of the best Kush strains. Thanks to its 100% Indica features, it keeps you happy for hours after consuming it. The euphoria and bliss last for hours, while the strain provides you with the much-needed physical relaxation that rids your body from sleeplessness, stress, and even pain.

Purple Kush is definitely worth talking about. It has very pure genetics among strains of messy and often, untraceable origin. The parents of the Purple Kush cannabis strain are 100% Indicas, making this strain absolutely fantastic. Thanks to the high THC levels in the strain, you can enjoy effects like body numbing and euphoria. Not to mention, the strikingly colored buds make it visually appealing, while the tasty seeds give you the desired effects right after consummation.

According to data, the strain was originally created by breeders from Oaksterdam, a neighbourhood in Oakland, California. This was one of the oldest legal marijuana areas in the US. The combination is a cross between Hindu Kush that originates from Pakistan-Afghanistan’s mountainous border, as well as the purple-tinged Afghani variety.

Ever since the Indica strain was first created, it has enjoyed increasing popularity. In 2016, the Purple Kush was named one of the top 10 Kush strains in the world, with a THC composition that ranges between 17% and 27%.

Effects Of The Purple Kush Weed Strain

If you’ve tried some marijuana hybrids, you might have experienced effects such as disorientation, at least in the beginning. Unlike those hybrids, the Purple Kush marijuana strain brings you directly into a sense of calm instead of taking you slowly into it. You can expect instant physical relaxation. In some cases, the strain has some mental effects, but they are of a more distorted and psychedelic nature than of a cerebral one.

Rather than bringing you hyperactive thoughts or sharpening your focus, this strain will bring you a state of contentedness. This can be combined with some laughter and a nice, happy high. For this reason, this Indica knockout is mostly used for nighttime enjoyment and by those who want an instant, heavy body stone in stressful times.

In addition to this, the strain is also used as a medication. Thanks to its sedative effects, it can blunt symptoms like stress and anxiety, and help with depression or chronic pain. If consumed in large, recommended doses, Purple Kush has shown great results with treating entrenched insomnia, and helping patients who struggle with nerve-related pains from cancer and fibromyalgia.

In terms of effects, the Purple Kush marijuana strain is contradictory within itself. Why? Because it will de-stress your body, but also activate and stimulate your mind, often beyond the conscious level. Very few consumers report symptoms like hallucinations after smoking this weed but, based on its quality features and properties, the strain shouldn’t make you feel paranoid or anxious. It has a unique ability to help you release the stress and basically – unwind..

Medical appointments of Purple Kush

As we mentioned, Purple Kush has plenty of medicinal uses and benefits. Many who struggle with stress or pain become hooked to its relaxing and fast effects. Since the strain is versatile and potent, it’s widely popular in medicinal treatment. This makes it a great treatment for beginner smokers, connoisseurs, as well as casual consumers.

Because of its origin and its effects, Purple Kush has become one of the highest rated globalized marijuana strains in the world of medicine. It’s a great addition to both your medicine cabinet and your secret pot stash.

Naturally, the strain is beneficial for various medical conditions’ symptoms, but isn’t directly used for the treatment of serious conditions. It’s used by people who experience the following symptoms:

  • Nausea
  • Insomnia
  • Lack of appetite
  • Chronic pain

In these cases, a larger dose than the average might be recommended, depending on the patient’s needs and treatment options. It can be consumed by smoking it, or in the form of marijuana edibles.

In addition to this, the Purple Kush weed is used to help with stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental conditions. However, those who suffer from such disorders or have some psychological issues need a smaller, an average dose. The people who are handling mental conditions are more susceptible to THC induced anxiety and paranoia, regardless of the strain they are consuming. This is why, if you choose to consume the Purple Kush cannabis strain for medicinal purposes, you need to discuss your treatment plan with a professional.

What are the negatives of consuming Purple Kush?

There isn’t much risk linked with Purple Kush weed as this isn’t a Sativa-influenced strain or a stimulator in any way. The majority of users don’t experience symptoms such as paranoia or stress when consuming this strain. Among the most common reported negative effects is cottonmouth or otherwise referred to as – dry mouth.

This is the most common side effect with almost every marijuana strain you’ll ever try, and it’s not really a big issue. It can be easily managed with a bit of preparation. Just make sure to hydrate well before, during, and after consuming the strain. You can quench your thirst easily, which probably makes this symptom one of the least worrisome symptoms in terms of marijuana consumption.

Some other negative symptoms reported by users include dizziness, headaches, and dry eyes. These are rarely reported and have a really low percentage of happening.

What Features Does The Purple Kush Cannabis Strain Have?

The Purple Kush weed has medium sized flowers that look like popcorn when cured. The bud structure is dense and heavy. The leaves can differ depending on the phenotype. They can be purple and green in equal parts.

As the name suggests, the strain has a high tendency toward the purple color because of its origin from the Purple Afghani parent strain. When the anthocyanins of the plant, the pigments, are activated, the strain gets its purple color.

How does the Purple Kush weed look, smell or taste?

The aesthetics of the Purple Kush weed is really appealing. The strain is pretty on the eyes, but that’s not the only reason why consumers love this strain. The taste and the smell are really appealing. With its aroma and its taste, the strain begins to stimulate all senses even before it shows effects after consumption.

There aren’t many strains out there that appear like this strain. So, when you purchase the product, any product you choose to consume the Purple Kush weed, you’ll enjoy a sweet smell and an even sweeter, grape-like taste. There will also be hints of subtle early pungency.

We all like the smell of freshly pumped grapes and wine, and this is what you get with the Purple Kush. In addition to this, you can recognize the strain because of its vibrant color that glows and sparkles with pinks, reds, and purples. These have shades from light to dark depending on the strain and growing conditions.

The leaves are an entirely different story, also a really beautiful one. There’s a sea of violets in the flowers and a sea of greens in the leaves. Expect to find neon green to deep sugar leaves, as well as orange, curly pistils. The strain’s water leaves feature deep purple to coral orange-toned colors.

Basically, the Purple Kush is a piece of art.

Since the strain has Afghani as a parent strain, it also has high capacity to create valuable sticky resin. This resin is used in the production of concentrates such as hash. The flowers with their curled structure are covered in trichomes, which gives the leaves a white, dewy sheen.

Should You Consume Purple Kush?

If you crave some relaxation, this Indica strain is a master at it. The effects are euphoric, uplifting, and almost instant. In high doses, it can cause sleepiness and help you beat insomnia. If you take it before bed, it will get you into deep and nice sleep, reduce your pain and stress, and help you relax.

The Purple Kush weed has somewhat of a magical power. It makes you sedated, but happily. You get joyous thoughts and laughter, but can also beat anxiety, stress, and tiredness.

This strain is ideal for people who want to forget their worries, unwind, or have a great night with friends or their partner. If you need to let go – both mentally and physically – Purple Kush is an excellent way to do this. This is a potent downer that will clear your head and help you fall asleep. It might cause the munchies, so have your snack drawer filled up.

Without any CBD and THC that goes as high as 27%, this girl is a really potent, excellent marijuana strain. It rightfully lives up to its rewards and popularity.

Unlike other hybrids that are crossbred to achieve an appealing taste, this strain has fruity flavor and amazing color that origins from Asia. It’s no wonder that this Kush has spawned many, many imitations, some more popular than the rest. For example, the Las Vegas Purple Kush is a strain that imitates this strain’s features, and a really popular one for that matter.

It’s best to consume this strain in the evening or at the end of a busy, lousy, and stressful day. It’s relaxing and refreshing – something most of us need very often. In addition to this, it has amazing medicinal uses, so it might help you with stress, pains, and issues such as insomnia.

Is Purple Kush Popular With Growers?

Plants that are purely Indica are really popular with consumers, but is the Purple Kush plant popular with growers? This plant grows bushy and low, and can be grown both indoors and outdoors. Even so, most growers prefer to grow the strain indoors since they can control the conditions.

Seeing how popular this strain has gotten, it is definitely popular with growers, too. They enjoy it even more considering that they can grow a large number of Purple Kush plants within a vertically limited grow space. The plants don’t really exceed 3 feet in height.

One of the tasks of growers is to shock the planets in order to activate the anthocyanins and bring out the purple hues that are the trademark of this strain. They do this by exposing the plant to a colder temperature, but only before the plant is ready to be harvested.

Since the Purple Kush plant flowers within eight weeks, it’s an excellent strain that brings fast and high profit to those who grow it. When grown outdoors, the plant is ready to be grown in mid to late September. Those who provide it with good growing conditions get a moderate yield of about 1.3 ounces per plant square footage.

Growers have yet another task when they harvest the Purple Kush crops. They need to cure the buds properly in order to preserve the aesthetics and the taste. This requires hanging the buds upside down for the duration of a week, preferably in a room with 50% humidity and a temperature of 70 degree Fahrenheit. Then, the growers seal the buds in jars in ambient surroundings of the same temperature, with an increased humidity of around 65%.

How To Grow The Purple Kush Plant?

Growing Purple Kush is neither simple nor too complex. Growers find it to be of medium difficulty since it grows rather fast, but requires specific steps if you want to do it right. As most of the Indica strains, this plant grows low and has a bushy figure. Its features make it a bit challenging to cultivate outdoors, so most growers choose to cultivate it indoors.

If one chooses to grow the Purple Kush outside, they need a location that has a high amount of full-sun. The leaves that lay low need to be permeated by the rays, too. Moreover, the Purple Kush plant requires a dry outdoor area that isn’t exposed to humidity and rain.

The Purple Kush is rather resistant to mildew, mold, and pests. But, getting it wet can become problematic. Growers rarely have bug issues with this plant. The bugs don’t really enjoy the primarily bitter taste of the strain.

And, since the growing process requires specific steps with controlled temperature and humidity, growing the strain inside is ideal. Since hydroponics indoors often increase the humidity, the ideal grown methods are soil grown methods for this plant. Hydroponics are used and can be good, but with some extra implemented measures. Such measures include an around-the-clock dehumidifier.

Is it useful to edibles?

In addition to smoking Purple Kush, you can take it as edibles such as live resin, candies, gummies, bubble has, or concentrates. This is ideal for those who consume the strain for medical purposes.

What Are Alternative Strains For Purple Kush Strain?

As you know by now, Purple Kush has been voted as one of the top 10 award-winning Indica Cannabis strains available to consumers and growers. If you can’t get access to this or like to try an alternative, here are some of the best options:

  • Northern Light is one of the favorites of growers and users worldwide. No one knows the exact genetics of this strain, but it’s said to be a hybrid of 11 varieties. This is a 100% Indica strain with a rather distinct flavor, features that resemble those of Purple Kush.
  • Blue Mystic has its origin from Oregon and California strains. This is another bushy plant that, unlike Purple Kush, can grow up to 1 metre. Some growers harvest it after eight weeks to achieve the fruity and sweet flavors, while others wait until ten weeks pass for a stronger, stonier high.
  • Bubblegum Kush is a hybrid that is Indica-dominant. It has 90% Indica, 10% Sativa, as well as 19% THC potency. It’s a nice blend with similar effects as those of the Purple Bush. It creates a relaxing bliss, though it takes some time to get you there due to its Sativa features.
  • OG Kush is one of the most popular, world-renowned strains, known for its distinct flavor and potency. It has a rather dank flavor and a long-lasting aftertaste. Once you consume it, you’ll enjoy head highs and intense body. It is also an Indica-dominant strain, but it is also 10% Sativa strain.
  • Pineapple Kush is a descendent strain of the popular OG Kush. It has the potency of the Original Gangsta, as well as a pleasant and really sweet flavor and aroma. If you choose this strain, you will enjoy a hint of vanilla, pineapple, and caramel. It is 20% Sativa and 80% Indica.

Summary

The consumption of pure Indica strains is very popular among connoisseurs and growers. There aren’t many strains that are as pure and effective as the Purple Kush, which is why this marijuana strain remains one of the top choices of most people nowadays.

If you haven’t tried it yet, you should definitely give it a go. It has a considerably nice price and can be used for both recreational and medicinal purposes. Those who use it for recreational purposes are best off using it in the evenings due to its amazing high and stress-relieving effects.

The strain works wonders with getting you into a more positive mood, helping you relax, and even sleep. It gives you a great high and yet, helps you refuel and erase the stress and worries from your head.

In terms of treatment, this strain is widely popular for its positive effects on pain management, as well as problems such as insomnia and depression. The quantities in which you need to take it for medical purposes can differ based on your problems and your treatments, so you should definitely discuss this with a medical expert.

purpul KUSH cant be measured with the level of perfection Afghan K. reached over the decades of improvements. However, this pot does everything one can expect from this type of lineage. Body gets relaxed, brain gets a few hours of free time, and it all tastes like berries.
