Italian Ice strain is an Indica-dominant hybrid cannabis strain. It was originally bred by Cali Connection through the crossing of Forbidden Fruit with Gelato 45. The resulting Italian Ice comes with a THC content of around 15-18% and sometimes even 25%. This makes it a very strong weed that may not be suitable for beginner smokers. This marijuana has a very sweet aroma and Linalool as a dominant terpene. It causes strong effects of relaxation, which makes it ideal for the late evening.

Taste and Aroma of Italian Ice

The main aromas of the buds include:

  • Sweetness
  • Blackberry
  • Grape
  • Sourness

All of these combine to give it a complex aroma that has more sweet notes than sour ones. The flavor is similarly fruity with some musky notes. Tokers can also notice spicy, earthy and ammonia tastes. The main sweetness comes from Carene and Phellandre in the strain composition.

Italian Ice Strain Effects and Benefits

This cannabis is great to smoke if you want to relax completely. It provides users with a strong head and body high. It also has the tendency to lead to couch-lock, so it should be smoked with a little care if you're planning to do something afterward.

Because of the strong body high it provides, Italian Ice weed strain may also be used to relieve chronic pain. It can quickly relax the whole body, causing sensations of pain to be taken over by those of calmness. But before using it for medical purposes - consult your doctor.

Italian Ice fans also recommend the Sherbet strain, although it has slightly higher THC level, this two strains are said to have the same drowsiness effect.

Information for Growers

If you can manage to get its seeds, which seem very hard to come by, the plant can grow easily. It is also easy to be cloned if you have some cuttings at your disposal. It can be cultivated indoors as well as outdoors. The yield is very good, and you will have the buds ready in 69-74 days. But some growers say Italian Ice buds are easier to find in dispensaries than seeds on the Internet.

Interesting fact about this cultivar: Italian Ice strain is known to be one of the easier strains to clone or grow. So it is perfect for beginner growers, you don't need special experience to grow it.

Italian Ice Strain Cannabinoids

THC Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is a major cannabis chemical compound. It is a psychoactive element that stimulates dopamine release and induces euphoria or happiness. THC-rich strains may be helpful with such conditions as lack of appetite, chronic pains , etc. It is considered to be the primary active marijuana component. 14.5 - 18.5%
CBD Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a major compound in cannabis, which is non-psychoactive. It is also proved to counteract the side effects of the second major component THC. CBD is widely used for medicinal purposes in rubs, oils and so on. It is helpful in muscle pain cases, may treat arthritis and migraines. Even Greeks used it against pain, while Queen Victoria applied it to get rid of menstrual cramps. 0.88 - 1.36%
CBC Cannabichromene, or CBC, is a minor cannabinoid, meaning that its quantity in cannabis is quite little. Though it has the same origin as CBD and THC, it is different in functions. Without any psychoactive effects, it is an efficient cannabis compound in combating acne and depression. CBC produces analgesic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. 0.52 - 0.67%
CBG Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of the minor cannabis compounds in adult plants. On the other hand, young ones contain a lot of this antibacterial and anti-inflammatory component. During the growth, CBG is converted into different cannabinoids, mostly THC and CBD. The compound itself increases appetite and decreases eye pressure. 0.41 - 0.72%
CBN Cannabinol, or CBN, is a trace element in cannabis that is considered to be mildly psychoactive. It appears from oxidation THC, exposed to light and heat. CBN is mostly contained in old cannabis and in traditional hashish. It is effective against insomnia, bacterial infections and appetite loss. 0.05 - 0.11%
THCV Tetrahydrocannabivarin, or THC-V, is a compound contained in cannabis in trace amounts. Even though it is close to THC molecularly, it is different in effects. This compound may be psychoactive only in large amounts. THC-V reduces blood sugar, controls appetite, stimulates bone growth, etc. African Sativa strains are the richest in THC-V. 0.49 - 0.76%

Despite it being an indica inclined hybrid, i IMMENSELY enjoyed it. Maybe it was the sweetness of it or how great i felty sitting on my porch and reading a book. I was fighting sleep like half of the time but I am going to use it a couple more times. I really did enjoy this one.

I would caution beginners from this bay because it has a tendency to bring about paranoia as a side effect. OG stoners that can easily get through the same should most definitely give it a try. Especially if you have issues with sleep or are feeling extremely stressed.

Among the strains I trust to offer me relaxation Italian Ice is top 5. I mean it counters any form of body pain, my broken ankle is living proof. And also it has a way of inducing a general body high that i find amazing. After a tough day at work I like coming home to a bud in my bowl.

Cannabis myth busting is one of my fav hobbies and I always thought couch lock was something people made up. But i am now a believer. Last teusday I smoked Italian Ice from a bong and didn't even wake up from when I had sat down. I had a line of chores to do so those just got postponed. Not a huge fan.

FAQ

Italian Ice is an indica-leaning hybrid (60% Indica and 40% Sativa).
The strain has inherited high-yielding tendencies from its parents (Forbidden Fruit and Gelato #45). As Italian Ice is one of the easiest strains to grow and clone, even beginning cultivators can expect bountiful yields. Indoor plants deliver 1-2 oz./ft2, and the outdoor return is 10-15 oz./plant.
Italian Ice is an indica-dominant hybrid with a moderate THC potency (14.5-18.5%). Genetics makes it a good smoking option for people who want to relax and feel uplifted and happy. In single individuals, it may lead to couch-lock.
Due to its rich terpene profile and cannabinoid composition, the strain helps patients ease the discomfort caused by fatigue, anxiety, insomnia, and stress. It shows positive effects in managing chronic pain associated with spasms, cramps, and migraines.
