Our Interview With Jaden Barnes of NuLeaf Naturals
It’s fair to say that CBD has exploded in popularity over the last few years. Riding that surge in popularity, many brands have broken into the CBD space. That’s where NuLeaf Naturals comes in. AskGrowers sits down with Jaden Barnes of NuLeaf Naturals about their top-notch, premium CBD products, the origins of their brand, and what sets them apart from their competition.
Tia (AskGrowers) : Share with us your brand story. How it all started?
Jaden Barnes : Founded in 2014 by a group of health-conscious plant medicine aficionados. Our vision is to pave the way for a line of cannabinoid wellness products that promote a healthy body and mind. Our ultimate goal is to help people and their loved ones live happier, healthier lives.
Tia : How can you describe your brand’s goals and efforts in one word? :)
Jaden : Premium.
Tia : Do you extract the oil on your own or you source your products third-party?
Jaden : We do all of our own extraction and growing. We are a vertically integrated company, which benefits our consumers by allowing us to control processes, improve efficiencies, and improve quality.
Tia : If you do, what are your extracting methods?
Jaden : Our extraction methods are pure and eco-friendly. We use a combination of advanced subcritical and supercritical CO2 extraction to obtain a complete range of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and other beneficial phytonutrients. This yields a more potent blend and requires no harsh chemical solvents. CO2 is safe to use in food products and is commonly found in carbonated beverages. Our bodies even produce CO2 when we breathe.
Tia : Why do you think your products differ from similar ones on the market? What makes your products special?
Jaden : NuLeaf Naturals premium cannabinoid wellness products are derived from specially bred therapeutic hemp (Cannabis sativa L) plants on licensed farms in Colorado. We would never sacrifice quality by providing a synthetic cannabinoid blend. We use a whole plant extract that is rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial oils.
We use a combination of both Subcritical and Supercritical extractions. This allows us to perform a “fractional extraction” by first extracting at lower pressures to remove the lighter, temperature-sensitive volatile oils, and then subsequently extracting the same material at a higher pressure to remove the remaining oils. This approach is the best because it allows us to extract a complete range of cannabinoids, terpenes, essential oils, and other beneficial phytonutrients that yield a more potent blend. We do not put any additives or preservatives or flavorings in our product.
Our product is made from organic, full spectrum, additive-free CBD oil, homogenized with a 100% organic hemp seed oil. We believe that full spectrum CBD oils (that contain other terpenes and cannabinoids such as CBC, CBD, CBDA, CBDV, CBG, CBN, THCV, and trace amounts of THC and Δ8-THC) are more effective because these cannabinoids act in synergy with each other, producing the fullest effect - even when existing in trace amounts. The trace amount of THC is not enough to be intoxicating. As one of America’s top pioneers in cannabinoid wellness, we are committed to bringing the highest-grade CBD products to the market that are third-party lab tested.
Tia : What are your top cannabis brands in your state?
Jaden : As an epicenter for cannabis and hemp innovation in the US, Colorado boasts an incredible number of industry-leading brands. We are proud to contribute to the rich past, present and future of cannabis and hemp progress in Colorado.
Tia : If you could smoke with anyone on this planet, living or dead, who would that be and why?
Jaden : [tooltip title="Steve DeAngelo" content="Father of the Legal Cannabis Industry and rights activist."]Steve DeAngelo[/tooltip], as he is known as the ’Father of the Legal Cannabis Industry” and paved the way for cannabis reform in the United States.
Tia : What’s your attitude to THC? Do you think people should prioritize products with high THC percentages? Why?
Jaden : THC offers its own medicinal benefits, which is why we choose to keep it in our products. When THC is able to synergize naturally with the rest of the plant compounds, this full spectrum delivers a more effective product. Consumers should not necessarily “prioritize” products with higher levels of THC. Instead, they should listen to their body and discover which combination of cannabinoids and terpenes work best for them.
