Green Labs and Their Award-Winning Swifts Edibles

On the hunt for the best edibles around? We chat with Green Labs about some of their best, as well as how they’ve kept up during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tia (AskGrowers) : Is Green Labs a family-run business? When did you first decide to go into the cannabis industry? Why focus on edibles?

Oliver (Green Labs) : Yes, Green Labs is owned and operated by Fabian Toader and his wife Cristina. The decision to get into the cannabis industry was made around the time I-502 became law in Washington, we chose to focus on edibles in part due to Fabians strong interest in food science and Cristina’s love for culinary arts.

Tia : According to the phrase on your website: “When life hands you a bag of Swifts chocolates, step outside of the box and turn the music up.” - what music would you recommend to listen to while eating your truffles and other edibles? :)

Oliver : Anything by Bob Marley is always a good choice.

Tia : You’re an incredibly quality-conscious brand, touting products that are a mix of gluten free, sugar free, and handcrafted. Is this detail-oriented craftsmanship the “thing” that separates Green Labs from other brands in the industry?

Oliver : Yes, we look to develop products that are unique to the market and serve niche customer segments that may not have as many edible cannabis options.

Tia : Have you ever had any particularly notable customer experiences since you’ve started?

Oliver : Customers reach out on a weekly basis.

Tia : What’s your best selling Swifts truffle currently?

Oliver : Our best selling truffles are our Milk and Dark chocolate varieties. Our Raspberry Cheesecake and Tiger Butter truffles also sell very well.

Tia : We know you won the 2016 Dope Cup for Best CBD Edible. Are you active in the competition scene? Is it a priority for your brand?

Oliver : Participating in the Dope Cup events was always a great way to celebrate with our peers in the cannabis industry and connect with new customers. Over the last 6 years we have only entered a few competitions so it has not been a priority for us, we are much more focused creating the best edible products and winning the hearts of our customers.

Tia : Who has final say when it comes to new products and quality control at Green Labs?

Oliver : Fabian and Cristi provide the vision for new products and have set extremely high standards for quality control, which we work on together as a team to ensure Swifts are Always Extraordinary.

Tia : How has COVID-19 impacted your business? How have you overcome it?

Oliver : There has been quite a bit of uncertainty caused by COVID, we have had to delay some new products and have seen impacts to packaging and ingredient sourcing. We have overcome it by just taking it one day at a time, putting our customers first while working as hard to navigate with this constantly changing industry.

Tia : Are there any brands you appreciate and follow in the industry?

Oliver : Yes, we are big fans of the Cookies brand product.

Tia : What would you recommend to beginners in the industry? Any tips and tricks you could share with our readers?

Oliver : Our advise to beginners in the industry is would be to recognize how relatively small the cannabis community is and to treat everyone fairly and do good business.

Tia : In your opinion, what do you think is the biggest struggle right now in cannabis industry?

Oliver : One of the biggest struggles right now is regarding the federal laws surrounding cannabis.

Tia : And finally my favourite question. If you could smoke with anyone in the world, who would it be? :)

Oliver : Lots of good options! I think I would go with Seth Rogen, he’s hilarious and seems like he would be a lot of fun to hang out with.
