If you are a fan of heavy Indica-dominant hybrid, couch lock, and distinct berry taste, as well as the fantastic medical values, then GDP strain is the best choice for you. GrandDaddy Purple strain is the grandfather of all the Indica hybrids and one of the strongest weeds that will make you go numb. It contains 16-20% THC, therefore, average users should be careful. If you germinate Grandaddy Purple seeds feminized, you will get a plant with a 16-18 oz yield.

Granddaddy Purple came out on the cannabis market back in 2003 after Ken Estes in San Francisco managed to stabilize the heavy Indica strain after the crossing of two predominant Indica phenotypes that were also highly popular among chiefs and medical users. The Grand Daddy Purple strain was created by crossing the best examples of Big Bud and Purple Urkle plants.

Taste and Smell of GDP Strain

When you open the bag, the first smell is a berry that is mixed with grape and earth. The aroma combination is highly pleasant and delicious, so you will fall in love right after the first smell. As the buds get older, the aroma gets better. Every Grand Daddy Purple strain review has compliments regarding the aroma, so it is evident that this is one of the best aromas you can find on the cannabis market.

When you smoke it, you can feel a note of earth and pine that are mixed with candy-like grapes. The fusion of flavors makes this GDP strain unique, pleasant, and smooth, so you will have no problem when it comes to smoking in larger amounts.

Granddaddy Purple Weed Possible Effects

Grand Daddy Kush genetics give you powerful and couch-lock effects, so you will not be in the mood for a walk by the river. At the same time, your thoughts will be rushed yet focused, as the mental buzz will create euphoria and pleasant relaxation. Therefore, everyone who has stress problems will benefit. Still, this is a night time weed, and do not think of using it during the day unless you are a heavy smoker. It produces:

Fans of Granddaddy Purp weed also recommend the Oreos strain, although it has a higher THC level, smokers say these two strains have similar sleepy effect.

When it comes to medical values, you have to know that this is almost pure Indica weed that will provide narcotic effects and will put you in the rest mode. The GDP strain helps with relieving the symptoms for patients who suffer from:

  • Stress
  • Muscle spasms
  • Insomnia
  • Pain
  • Lack of appetite
  • Migraines
  • PTSD
  • Depression

As Granddaddy Purple strain is heavy Indica, you can expect dry mouth, red eyes, a bit of dizziness and paranoia until you get used to it. A less experienced patient who does not have regular contact with cannabis may experience a slightly psychedelic effect and changes in aural/visual senses.

Growing Tips

If you are planning to grow Grand Daddy Purple, then you should know that you have to have some basic knowledge to grow it successfully. Although it is not prone to diseases and does not require any special care, you should know the basic things about the water structure and nutrients you need to use. The slight disbalance in nutrients can cause damage. However, if you grow outdoors, just make sure you ensure huge holes filled with high-quality soil and organic fertilizers, and you are good to go. In an indoor environment, try not to grow smaller pots and ensure that you have at least 600 Watt lighting systems.

Granddaddy Purple Strain Cannabinoids

THC Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is a major cannabis chemical compound. It is a psychoactive element that stimulates dopamine release and induces euphoria or happiness. THC-rich strains may be helpful with such conditions as lack of appetite, chronic pains , etc. It is considered to be the primary active marijuana component. 19.67 - 24.33%
CBD Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a major compound in cannabis, which is non-psychoactive. It is also proved to counteract the side effects of the second major component THC. CBD is widely used for medicinal purposes in rubs, oils and so on. It is helpful in muscle pain cases, may treat arthritis and migraines. Even Greeks used it against pain, while Queen Victoria applied it to get rid of menstrual cramps. 0.54 - 0.91%
CBC Cannabichromene, or CBC, is a minor cannabinoid, meaning that its quantity in cannabis is quite little. Though it has the same origin as CBD and THC, it is different in functions. Without any psychoactive effects, it is an efficient cannabis compound in combating acne and depression. CBC produces analgesic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. 0.27 - 0.89%
CBG Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of the minor cannabis compounds in adult plants. On the other hand, young ones contain a lot of this antibacterial and anti-inflammatory component. During the growth, CBG is converted into different cannabinoids, mostly THC and CBD. The compound itself increases appetite and decreases eye pressure. 0.13 - 1.54%
CBN Cannabinol, or CBN, is a trace element in cannabis that is considered to be mildly psychoactive. It appears from oxidation THC, exposed to light and heat. CBN is mostly contained in old cannabis and in traditional hashish. It is effective against insomnia, bacterial infections and appetite loss. 0.2 - 0.2%
THCV Tetrahydrocannabivarin, or THC-V, is a compound contained in cannabis in trace amounts. Even though it is close to THC molecularly, it is different in effects. This compound may be psychoactive only in large amounts. THC-V reduces blood sugar, controls appetite, stimulates bone growth, etc. African Sativa strains are the richest in THC-V. 0.3 - 1.35%

Contrary to what many believe, you can use this baby during the day. Only issue is that you may get too relaxed you forget what you were doing. but at least you won't be constantly worried and feeling anxious as you go about your duties. That is always something worth celebrating or hitting another joint for.

I sent this to my granny who has trouble with anxiety and is constantly complaining of pain from all over. Two weeks in and she is singing my praises in the family group chat. Thanks Grandaddy Purple for making me her favorite. Now, next time I go visiting I'll make her some weed brownies with this bad boy and watch her dote on me even more.

Smoked granddaddy daily for one week in a row every evening after work. I can say it's a perfect prebed routine not discover by many guys. Gives you heavy sleep, makes you forget you had pain in your body. Testing other strains now but will surely come back to this.

There are different varieties of GDP, it depends on which seed bank the tree grows from and if it is indoor or outdoor grown. I find the seeds I have grown from have a horrible potent effect thats too strong and euphoric, not like the relaxing mellow couch lock others talk about. In saying that I find this to be true from a lot of weed that I grow, could be that I am harvesting the buds too soon or late.. but some have found my weed to be enjoyable and other agree with me using words like its very 'intense' and 'violent'.

I must admit I was underestimating this one. It feels good when you have a headache because of overthinking. It smells something like lavender but with a lot of sweet hints. A good purchase for starters.
