Sunny Saini, Khush Kush CEO, gives us the download on the best strains of 2020 and what new edibles we can expect from Khush Kush in the near future.

Sunny from Khush Kush is an expert is what’s new and popular in cannabis strains. In our interview, Sunny digs into the best strains of 2020, the best products Khush Kush has to offer, and what we’ll see coming from them in the near future.

Tia (AskGrowers) : So, let’s start with the origins of Khush Kush:) What was the first strain you guys decided to grow when you started?

Sunny Saini (Kush Kush): The first strain that we ever decided to grow was called, “The Wonder Kid.” It started from seed and was a fantastic strain for us for a while. Unfortunately, it just couldn’t produce quick enough for the garden and had some weird genetic issues which could put the rest of the room at danger. We had to cut it out of rotation.

Tia : How many strains does Khush Kush offer right now?

Sunny : We currently have 12 strains that are constantly in rotation.

Tia : What is it about Khush Kush strains that separates it from other cannabis companies?

Sunny : I think our growing practices are what helps us bring the best out of a particular genetic. Sticky Gorilla is one of our strains and it used to be the Gorilla Glue #4. A lot of farms have it but ours tends to be a top seller at shops because people are able to get a full profile of the strain through us.

Tia : What’s your favourite strain so far in 2020 and why?

Sunny : My personal fave has been the Spiked Punch for us this year. It just hits all the notes for me.

Tia : Who’s the target audience of Khush Kush?

Sunny : Anyone and everyone 21 and over.

Tia : What would you recommend for a beginner who’s trying cannabis for the first time?

Sunny : Take it slow and try a variety of strains before settling in. Don’t just go for the highest thc.

Tia : I saw that you also have edibles in your list of products. Do you plan to expand this list? If so, why and what type of products are you looking to add?

Sunny : Yes, we recently launched the edibles and they are slowly getting traction in the market. We just recently added pop (pot) tarts, almond joys, chocolate covered marshmallow squares and crostini.

Tia : Do you have any cannabis brands you follow and try to emulate?

Sunny : We admire a lot of brands but don’t follow anyone. It’s better to have our own unique footprint rather than emulating anyone.

Tia : How has COVID-19 affected Khush Kush and how have you overcome those issues?

Sunny : The biggest impact has been for staffing. We have elderaly that work for us so with them staying home and rightfully so, it slowed down overall trimming and packaging for us.

Tia : Does Khush Kush have any big plans in the near future? What are they?

Sunny : Hopefully expansion is coming really soon. We want to at least double our production by the end of 2021.

Tia : Putting you on the spot here: if you had to pick your top 5 musicians/bands right now, who are you recommending?

Sunny : Jay Z will always be number 1 for me, Outkast, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Weeknd. Give me solid hip-hop and RnB and I'm happy.
