A Sweet Experience in CBD With Sam Uddin, Co-Founder of Therapeutic Treats
Chocolate is an international all-time favourite when it comes to guilty pleasures, and for cannabis lovers, it’s a great medium for making delicious edibles.
Sam, one of the co-founders of Therapeutic Treats shared with us how hard it can be to make chocolate bars with CBD, along with tips and tricks of the business and steps to being successful in the industry. Check out the interview below to see what they’re making and what they have in store for the future!
Julia (AskGrowers) : Your business focuses on CBD products as a health benefit. What is your bestseller right now and what does it offer the consumer?
Sam Uddin (Therapeutic Treats) : We offer both Full Spectrum and THC free Organic CBD Chocolates on our website. Most popular flavors are 70% dark chocolate, peanut butter & honey milk chocolate, and caramel coconut milk chocolate.
Julia : Why did you decide to focus on chocolates as your CBD edible?
Sam : Growing up I had a bad sweet tooth and an affinity for desserts and my partner is a chief who loves to bake. We wanted to combine our passions for sweets and deliver CBD in a healthy delicious consumption method. Plus oils and fats digest and travel best in the body together so combining hemp oil into the chocolates fats makes for a great delivery method. Also this gives consumers a discreet consumption option plus children who need CBD would be much more inclined to eat a piece of chocolate than take a drop of oil or a syringe method.
Julia : Did you have any experience in chocolate production before?
Sam : Yes Royal has experience in chocolate production. He bakes some amazing brownies.
Julia : Can kids try your chocolate? :)
Sam : Yes, we just encourage parents to consult with their physicians before starting any new supplements and to make sure they have no allergies with any of our ingredients.
Julia : What CBD strains do you use to make chocolate?
Sam : Our CBD is sourced from a company called Endoca.
Julia : What’s your attitude toward THC and THC edibles?
Sam : Love it.
Julia : What would you recommend to try first from your list of chocolate? And what’s your favourite one?
Sam : That all depends on taste buds and diet restrictions. But I would say try the Peanut Butter and Honey first and my personal favorite is Raspberry Cinnamon.
Julia : Who’s the decision maker in approving new recipes?
Sam : Royal and Sam are the decision makers.
Julia : Do you plan to add any new chocolate flavours? If yes, what and why specifically those ones?
Sam : No new flavors at this time but we do have seasonal flavors like mint dark chocolate and pumpkin spiced caramel dark chocolate.
Julia : Tell us about your plans for the next 1-2 years. Do you want to implement something new?
Sam : We hope to continue growing, help improve lives, and hopefully gain distribution into some major retailers.
Julia : Your advice to start ups?
Sam : You have to do something you love or are passionate about to make the journey fun and worthwhile or else the difficult and challenging moments will make you want to quit.
