The Ice strain is a hybrid of 50% Indica and 50% Sativa. It was created via crossbreeding of several parent strains such as Northern Lights, Afghani landrace, Skunk #1, and Shiva. It features a THC level of 18-21% along with a CBD content of 0.28-0.56%. The breeder of Ice is Nirvana Seeds, which is one of the largest growers in the industry. It is based in the Netherlands.

The strain has got its name due to white dense trichomes, which cover the buds and look like clouds. It has gained immense popularity and was a winner of the High Times Cannabis Cup in 1998.

Strain Smell and Taste

Since the strain is a Skunk type in its lineage, this means it has a diesel smell. Consumers can also expect an earthy, chemical, and spice taste. Some consumers find woody, berry, and mint flavors that spread across with smoke. These strong and specific flavors are suitable for specific types of users.

The Most Common Effects

The strain can be used occasionally and for short time periods due to its potency. It is strong and provides all effects and benefits immediately. Users can experience happiness, relaxation, euphoria, increased focus, and uplifted feelings.

Ice is rich in terpenes (myrcene, limonene, and humulene) that help people who are depressed and sad, but high feelings are not long-lasting and soon start to decline. This weed type is good for evening and nighttime use.

In addition to multiple bonuses for recreational users, Ice is packed with various medical benefits. The smoke spreads through the air channels in the lungs and relieves the symptoms of asthma. The strain shows impressive results in treating chronic pain, depression, stress, gastrointestinal disorders, and insomnia. It stimulates appetite and reduces inflammation. Therapists recommend this marijuana type to ease the symptoms of muscular dystrophy, hypertension, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

There are a few negative effects that may be experienced by Ice weed strain smokers:

  • low blood pressure;
  • red eyes;
  • dry mouth;
  • headaches;
  • paranoia;

Growth Information

Growers adore Ice strain because it can be easily cultivated both indoors and outdoors. This marijuana type is very popular, and the seeds are easy to find. It produces high yields (2-4 oz. /ft2 indoors and 4-6 oz./ft2 outdoors) with incredible white trichomes. It flowers in 64-73 days, while the harvest time is 79-86 days. The strain is resistant to common plant diseases and offers high resin production. Due to a manageable height, the plants are great to be cultivated in places where space is limited.

Ice Strain Cannabinoids

THC Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is a major cannabis chemical compound. It is a psychoactive element that stimulates dopamine release and induces euphoria or happiness. THC-rich strains may be helpful with such conditions as lack of appetite, chronic pains , etc. It is considered to be the primary active marijuana component. 18.4 - 19.6%
CBD Cannabidiol, or CBD, is a major compound in cannabis, which is non-psychoactive. It is also proved to counteract the side effects of the second major component THC. CBD is widely used for medicinal purposes in rubs, oils and so on. It is helpful in muscle pain cases, may treat arthritis and migraines. Even Greeks used it against pain, while Queen Victoria applied it to get rid of menstrual cramps. 0.52 - 0.7%
CBC Cannabichromene, or CBC, is a minor cannabinoid, meaning that its quantity in cannabis is quite little. Though it has the same origin as CBD and THC, it is different in functions. Without any psychoactive effects, it is an efficient cannabis compound in combating acne and depression. CBC produces analgesic, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects. 0.3 - 0.84%
CBG Cannabigerol, or CBG, is one of the minor cannabis compounds in adult plants. On the other hand, young ones contain a lot of this antibacterial and anti-inflammatory component. During the growth, CBG is converted into different cannabinoids, mostly THC and CBD. The compound itself increases appetite and decreases eye pressure. 0.26 - 1.52%
CBN Cannabinol, or CBN, is a trace element in cannabis that is considered to be mildly psychoactive. It appears from oxidation THC, exposed to light and heat. CBN is mostly contained in old cannabis and in traditional hashish. It is effective against insomnia, bacterial infections and appetite loss. 0.34 - 0.28%
THCV Tetrahydrocannabivarin, or THC-V, is a compound contained in cannabis in trace amounts. Even though it is close to THC molecularly, it is different in effects. This compound may be psychoactive only in large amounts. THC-V reduces blood sugar, controls appetite, stimulates bone growth, etc. African Sativa strains are the richest in THC-V. 0.34 - 0.84%

Im always trying new strains, but this one and Dogwalker OG have a special place in my heart. I like diesel and earthy flavors. Very uplifting and relaxing! Perfect before bed or going out with friends, but you can function in the day if you need, too.

FAQ

You can grow the strain indoors or outdoors. The outdoor growing is a bit more complicated and it involves taller plants. But, the yield is higher as well. Indoors the growing is much easier and a plant can reach 120 cm in height. The yield is 400-500 grams per square meter.
